2012 in review

It was a busy year here at Havoc & Mayhem.

I made 107 layouts. Don’t ask how many digi kits I bought. I could find out but no one needs to know that.

I took more than 1194 photos. More than, because that is how many I kept and this year I have been really good at deleting the bad ones.

The most were from December, with over 220 kept.

I completed my 365 project with all 14 topics this time!  Sadly I think it might be time to retire the dinos & clones for 2013. Or maybe combine them for a toys topic. They don’t get much play these days.

We had nearly $7000 in unexpected expenses this year, making this the most expensive year since 2004.

These expenses include brakes & pads for my car, 2 tires for my car, a new transmission for DH’s truck, surgery for me, CT scan for DH, a crown for me, a broken tooth for Havoc, surgery for Houndini, numerous tests for Nefertiti (who we’ve learned has chronic kidney disease) and cost overruns on the porch thingy.

I planned 300 meals and made 271 of them.

Most included a planned vegetable side dish.

I lost about 10lbs. Or more to the point, I lost over 20 but actually kept 10 off.

I read 124 new books, most of them mysteries, with romance & fiction coming in 2nd & 3rd. 28 of these were reviewer books. 4 of them I really didn’t like. I didn’t like many of the non-reviewer books I read but I didn’t finish those so they aren’t included in the 124. I did at last manage to find some steampunk books I liked, after 2 years of trying.

The first new book I read in 2012 was Dancing with Colonels: A Young Woman’s Adventures in Wartime Turkey by Marjorie Havreberg.

The last new book I read in 2012 was Oh Myyyy! (there goes the internet) by George Takei.

I easily reread about 200 books as well. I keep meaning to track that but never remember past Feb.

I completed 2.7 out of 4 cross stitch projects (it’s a set) and crocheted 9 gloves. (3 were pattern testers, that’s why the uneven number)

I beta tested 9 games mostly hidden object/adventure games but one shooter one as well.

I also beta tested 3 recipes. We only really liked one of them.

I posted 155 new posts (low for me) and they were seen by people in 107 countries (high for me)

I can’t begin to count the comments & emails I have gotten.

Thank you all for being a part of Havoc & Mayhem this year!

Happy New Year!

  • Happy New Year, Stacey, I hope it’s glorious (and less expensive)!

  • What a fantastic review! And you’ve given your readers countless laughs, too.
    Happy New Year,
    Rinda

  • I am in awe of the reading figures! But appalled at the medical costs – eeeeek!!!
What a great recap though – a full and busy year.
Here’s hoping that 2013 provides plenty of blog fodder but sees you all happy and healthy and getting that porch thingy all finished!
    Happy New Year xx

I will miss the dinos and clones if they are retired, but after reorganizing our girls’ playroom yesterday it was (somewhat rudely) pointed out to me how they move past things I wish they wouldn’t.
Congrats on the meal planning/cooking completion, that’s better than 90% success!
    Happy New Year!

  • Happy New Year to you and yours Stacey! It’s been a pleasure getting to know you through 2012 – here’s to 2013 and beyond
