Monday Musings

We decorated the tree this weekend. We put all the Hallmark ornaments on it, plus about a quarter of the wooden ones & the 4 snowmen and that was all that fit.  We have an entire box of ornaments that couldn’t go on the tree.

We’ve outgrown our tree.

I’d love to get a 10ft tall one with a 56 inch base to hold all the ornaments we currently have plus the next 7-8 years of 4 ornaments each.

But we’d need to remove some ceiling tiles and furniture to fit a tree that big into the house so I am sort of maxed out at 7-7.5ft with only a 50 inch base & even that would mean no one could sit on one end of the 3 person sofa & we’d need a new tree topper, something very very short.

I thought about cramming as many ornaments as possible onto the tree, for that ‘heavily decorated’ look but I think we’re fairly close to that now.

So come Dec 26th I will be looking for after Christmas tree sales & see what I can find

First world problems – when you have more ornaments than tree space.

I’m gearing up for the arrival of our Christmas elf – Elvin. I’m sorting out about 10 things for him to do. I set him up a gmail account.  The boys each have one & google talk so that can chat with their dad while he is at work or away. I’m hoping to get the grandparents on it as well over the holidays.  Elvin will be testing out the new “elf communication system” this week, before he arrives Saturday morning & then will occasionally be passing on messages from Santa when he goes back to the North Pole every night.

I also have everything organized for Journal Your Christmas, bought nearly all the gifts and I’ve found a house sitter to cover the whole time we’re gone!

So far things are not looking to bad for the start of the holiday season.

  • Well done on being so organised!

  • The tree looks amazing! Maybe we’ll go looking for a nice one next weekend – you have me excited at the thought now

  • I bought an artificial tree this year for the first time – between Paul and the new dog, it just seemed like the right thing to do.
It will be interesting to see how it works out.

  • I want a new prelit tree but Stephen has always put 800 lights on ours and you can’t find them like that. Your tree looks lovely and you are definitely organized, I am sure that will make the season much less stressful.
