Journal Your Christmas

It’s just around the corner & most of my scrapping buddies are busy assembling their supplies. The paper scrappers are getting their albums ready & setting up their page backgrounds. The digi scrappers are browsing for Christmas kits & templates, setting up their folders & tagging their supplies for ease of use.

I’m no different.

I’ve been going through my stash of digital Christmas supplies, going all the way back to 2008 & checking out what my favorite designers have recently released, or the sneak peeks of what will be released for Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales.

So far I have purchased these new kits

Julie Billingsley’s A Joyous Christmas

Melissa Bennett’s Peppermint Stick

and her Candy Cane Kisses

and Zoe Pearn’s Tis the Season

Eva Kipler, who I CT for, has a gorgeous collab with Flergs coming out this Friday at Sweet Shoppe Designs.

This year I am changing up my JYC plan. I’m not going to do all the prompts and I am not doing them all in order. There are only so many ways I can describe how I wrap my gifts & I think I have covered that more than sufficiently in the past. The weather prompt can wait until closer to Christmas day. I want to do a page showing everything Elvin, our Christmas elf, get’s up to. I want to incorporate the various Lego advent  figurines into each page, maybe. Or maybe have Elvin on each page.

I think I may do more blog posts this year & use them as the journaling

I want to do clean minimalist pages, one, maybe two photos & some journaling. Perhaps a small embellishment here & there.

I always say that & I never manage it

We’ll see how it goes.

How about you? Are you getting ready for JYC? or December Daily?

  • I’m going to combine the 2 projects, but only up to the 25th. My DD kit arrived safely from the US and you’ll be able to see what I’ve done with it in tomorrow’s post on my blog.

  • Bless your heart! Somehow in all of the huzzarai, I never stopped to think about Journaling My Christmas!! I felt uncomfortable with Ali Edwards’ December Daily because my kids are grown and I am pretty much homebound, but – I can actually journal what this is like for me. It doesn’t have to pretty, but it can be mine!

I’ve prepared a bit for JYC this year but hope to do more foundation pages the next couple of days. Scrapping with only my own stash, no shopping allowed. Size is going to be A4 horizontal. :) I sometimes change the subjects if they don’t fit and shuffle them about as well. After 6 (?) years of JYC you’d think I’d totally change things, but (still) haven’t finished my first album, and this year with the Twins’ first Christmas I’ll stick to Shim’s prompts, but might change things in 2012.

Can’t wait to see your entries. :)

  • Hope you had a good one! This is so adorable! Wish you a wofdnreul New Year, Cathy! May you have happiness, good health, and inspiration to carry on doing what you do so well writing poetry!
